Dr Michael Obidoa is a UK-trained Consultant Psychiatrist with specialist expertise in general adult psychiatry, liaison psychiatry, perinatal mental health, and workplace wellbeing. A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, he combines clinical precision with compassionate care; supporting individuals and organisations through complex mental health challenges. His academic foundation in pharmacology and medical education informs a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to treatment and collaboration.
With over 30 years of clinical experience including two decades within NHS psychiatry, Dr Michael Obidoa is a seasoned leader, mentor, and advocate for proactive mental health care. He believes more can and must be done to identify and treat mental ill health early, improving outcomes not just for individuals, but for organisations and society at large.

Dr Michael Obidoa completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Jos in 1994, followed by a Master’s in Clinical Pharmacology in 2002.
He undertook formal postgraduate psychiatry training in Bristol, gaining membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2007.
Additional qualifications include EMDR therapy Uk(2012), Forensic and legal medicine training with police services at Teeside University Uk(2014), and Medical Education training at The University of Winchester Uk(2016).

Training & NHS
Dr Michael Obidoa completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of Jos in 1994, followed by a Master’s in Clinical Pharmacology in 2002.
He undertook formal postgraduate psychiatry training in Bristol, gaining membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2007.

Prior to starting his private practice in 2025, Dr Obidoa has over two decades of experience as a mental health psychiatrist in various NHS roles that date back to 2003.
Dr Obidoa was appointed to his first NHS Consultant post in 2014 as a Liaison Psychiatrist at Great Western Hospital, Swindon, where he led service innovation and transformation of the team whilst providing psychiatric care to an ageless [working age and older adult patients] service in the Acute General Hospital. Within a year, he was appointed Post-graduate Tutor for post graduate doctors in training.
In 2022, he was also appointment mentor for the Psychiatry Foundation Fellowship Scheme by the Royal College of psychiatry.
